Why your makeup doesn't last and how I make it stay all day

Tips · by PUCCA diana · 6 min read

You paid for a makeup look and by noon the color had changed, it was shining or it felt like a mask on your face. It is one of the most common fears before a booking, and it is a fair one. The good news is that every one of these problems has a clear cause and a solution. Here is how I prevent them.

Why makeup doesn't last

Most often, makeup fails to hold for two reasons: the skin was not prepped properly and it was not set at the end. Foundation applied on dehydrated or oily skin sits unevenly and migrates. That is why I take my time prepping the skin first, and at the end I set every layer, so everything holds up through emotions, photos and dancing, for hours on end.

Lasting power does not come from more product, it comes from proper prep and setting.

Why foundation turns orange

The phenomenon is called oxidation: the pigments in the foundation react with your sebum, oils and skin pH, and the color darkens or shifts toward orange after a few hours. It happens mostly with products that are not suited to your skin type. I prevent it by prepping the skin, choosing the right shade and using tested products that do not oxidize on you.

The mask effect

That mask-like feeling comes from too much product and from a shade that does not match your neck. To avoid it, I build coverage only where it is needed, in thin layers, and I match the foundation to your neck, not just your cheek. That way the skin stays skin, radiant, not a flat and heavy surface.

"I don't want to look like someone else"

This is perhaps the most important fear: getting up from the chair and no longer recognizing yourself. I always start from your own features, not from a photo off the internet. At the trial we work together until you fully recognize yourself in the mirror. The goal is not to transform you, it is for you to be you, in your most radiant version.

The takeaway

Makeup that lasts, does not oxidize and does not look like a mask is not luck, it is method: prepped skin, the right products, thin layers and setting. If you have had a bad experience before, let's talk about what you want, and I will build the look around you.
